From Dec. 6 to 9, INCEEM 2023, the second edition of the International Conference on “Energy & Environmental Materials” organized by the School of Basic Sciences and Department of Environmental Science Research in Sharda, India, was held online. This is an important meeting where various topics are discussed including “Environmental Pollution and Remediation” and “Waste Management”, in line with the topics of LIFE RESTART.
Here, Professor Annamaria Visco, UNIME‘s scientific manager of the LIFE RESTART project, gave an invited talk on “Biodegradation of bioplastics from agrowastes” in which she presented LIFE RESTART and some preliminary results related to biodegradation on which the research group she coordinates at the Engineering Department of Messina University is working.

Also speaking as part of INCEM 2023 was Dr. Cristina Scolaro, (UNIME Engineering Department) with an invited talk on “Effect of photodegradation ageing on the performance of Bio-Polybutylene Succinate” in which she presented other preliminary results on the effects of sterilizing radiation on bioplastics studied as part of the project.
In both cases, topics discussed were successful with questions about and requests for scientific collaboration.
