Valentina Beghetto for Crossing presented the LIFE RESTART project and the related research and development work at the 20th International Conference on Renewable Resources and Biorefineries, which was held this year in Brussels. The event welcomed about 300 participants from over 30 countries.

Biotechnology for Industry

Delegates from universities, industries, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and venture capital providers presented their views on industrial biotechnology, sustainable (green) chemistry, and agricultural policy related to the use of renewable raw materials for non-food applications and energy supply.

The conference also aimed to provide an overview of the scientific, technical, economic, environmental, and social issues related to renewable resources and biorefineries, in order to boost the bio-based economy and present new developments in this field. It also served as a forum for key political, corporate, academic, and financial figures to discuss recent developments and establish collaborations.

Interest of Major Brands in LIFE RESTART

The event, which included three days of plenary lectures, Town Halls, oral presentations, poster sessions, and an exhibition, also offered the opportunity for companies and research organizations to organize a satellite symposium. It was an important occasion to foster international communication and collaborations within the biorefinery and green chemistry community, and to promote advancement in leather science and manufacturing technology.

It was also a valuable opportunity to find new partners interested in the LIFE RESTART project (such as L’Oréal) with whom Crossing is currently discussing potential market applications.
